University of Indianapolis Communications & Marketing staffers know full well the frustrations of a lackluster, ineffective website where visitors find that information is hard to come by. So when the time came for a fresh approach to UIndy’s site, they took the time to do it right. The result was that the website was the big winner in the EduStyle Higher-Ed Web Awards announced in August.

The UIndy site claimed top honors for Best Overall Website and Best Home Page, leading the pack in both professional judging and “people’s choice” online voting. The awards were announced at the Annual EduWEB Conference in San Antonio, Texas. EduStyle is an online gallery for digital designers and developers working in higher education, and the awards celebrate the best work in college and university websites. More than 900 entries, from institutions large and small across the U.S., were considered.

The University’s Communications & Marketing office worked for a year with Indianapolis-based marketing and design firm Rare Bird to develop an engaging new navigational structure that caters to specific audiences and makes information easy to find, especially for prospective students. The changes also included an updated visual design, fresh text, and more extensive use of photos. Click through the new site at www.uindy.edu.
