Business professor featured in state’s ‘Hot Jobs’ video

Associate Professor Jerry Flatto of UIndy’s School of Business is among the stars of the latest “Hoosier Hot 50 Jobs” list assembled by the Indiana Department of Workforce Management. An information systems specialist, Flatto is the featured representative for the field of postsecondary teaching, which ranks at No. 13 on the list.

In a video on the Hot Jobs website, he notes that he began his career as an engineer supporting nuclear submarines. He fell into teaching when he returned to college for graduate studies and discovered a knack for putting his experience to work in the classroom.

“What I enjoy most about my job is the light that comes on in students’ heads when they realize, ‘This stuff is actually kind of interesting, kind of useful,’” he says in the video (which can be found at https://netsolutions.dwd.in.gov/hh50/).
