Governor taps UIndy instructor for high court

Indiana’s newest Supreme Court justice is a member of the University of Indianapolis community. Governor Mitch Daniels appointed former Boone County Circuit Court Judge Steven David to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Theodore R. Boehm. The new justice took his seat in October.

David is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Social Sciences and most recently taught a course in criminal evidence. He spent 27 years on active and reserve duty in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of colonel. In 2008, he served as chief defense counsel for the Office of Military Commissions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
